Coshocton County is going wireless! - May 5th, 2009
The following is an update on the Wireless project underway by Lightspeed Wireless.
The first tower (Killbuck Tower) which will serve as a hub for the wireless system in Coshocton County has recently received 10 antennas. My understanding is that this will be a 2 year project and with the Killbuck tower in place, Coshocton County is well under way to eventually serve its community with wireless Internet. If you are interested, I would suggest you fill out the site survey form, so that you will be notified when wireless is available for you. More information can be obtained on Lightspeed Wireless' website as well as the County Commissioner's web site. Links follow (will open in new window or tab):
Other questions such as pricing can be directed to Missy Zickel at Lightspeed by calling 1-888-604807 option 1 Monday through Friday 9 AM till 5:30 PM.
Truecrypt - March 20th, 2009
I wrote extensively about Truecrypt a year ago (March 10, 2008), so I won't repeat myself here. However, the software has changed with the latest version now at 6.1a. I decided to bring Truecypt back up because locally a company (name withheld) had their laptop taken and apparently company employees sensitive data was breached. This is not the first time and it won't be the last, but it amazes me that more care was not taken to "lock down" sensitive and confidential information. Used properly, Truecrypt would have made it virtually impossible for someone to access any files encrypted. I have used Truecrypt for years and I can help anyone interested install it and run over any features that they may have questions about. Below is a screen shot of the main window for mounting Truecrypt files.
